ARTIST’S BIO Peter grew up in the Long Island suburbs, forty miles from New York City, where agriculture and the natural landscape were still a part of life. He spent much of his early years experiencing the landscape of the area; on the bay, at the ocean, in the woods near home, or in the mountains of Upstate New York and New England. His passion for nature and the landscape as well as art and design grew during this time and led to his enrollment at Cornell University where he studied horticulture and landscape design as an undergraduate and landscape architecture as a graduate student. While at Cornell, he pursued art study whenever possible to fortify his creative spirit and serve as a respite from academic life. Over the years he has practiced as a landscape designer and continues to do freelance design work in many parts of the country. He also works as a freelance horticulture and landscape illustrator for books and magazines. Traveling in Utah and throughout the West, he became captivated by the beautiful, expansive landscapes, and now endeavors to capture their essence in oils. He is inspired by the spectacular regional landscapes and its artists. He travels whenever possible to experience foreign landscapes, architecture, culture, art and design and in his travels has found inspiration for many paintings. His artistic style continues to evolve. Peter’s paintings have been exhibited in various venues. They have been purchased by numerous private collectors as well as the Salt Lake International Airport, which has six of his paintings displayed in their collection.
